6 Reasons to visit Bondi in the Winter

After living in Bondi for just over 7 years, winter has become one of my favourite times of the year! The summer days seem to last longer and longer each year and with the mainstream crowds returning to their homelands, Bondi becomes a locals playground for everyone.  Here are the top reasons to visit Bondi in the Winter:

Beat the crowds.  Bondi in the winter becomes a local haven, quiet beaches, no hour long wait for brunches and public transport actually becomes a viable option (if you wanted to leave the bubble).  The tourist are scarce and you really get to enjoy what Bondi has to offer without all the hustle and bustle. Try things like the costal walk (Bondi to Bronte) it is so nice to do when it isn’t 30 degrees and thousands of people are trying to do it along with you.

Winter Festival.  Have you ever gone ice skating on the beach? Bondi’s winter festival brings an ice skating rink to Bondi, camels on the beach, it may seem a bit corny but at least it makes for a good photo (http://www.bondiwintermagic.org.au/)

Sweat it up in a heated yoga class.  It can be stifling some days doing yoga in a 30 degree room when it is 30 degrees outside but once it cools down there is nothing more cozy then getting down on the mat in the warmth of the studio.  Check out studios such as Power Living, Body Mind Life and Beach Flow for some hot classes.

Enjoy a Sunday roast. A roast with a nice glass of red sounds like the perfect meal to me! Luckily there are several places in Bondi to get your fix.  Check out our post on the best roasts in Bondi

City to Surf weekend. Whether you are running in the famous fun race or not it all accumulates  at the finish line in front of Bondi’s Pavilion.  From mid morning to the late night Bondi is heaving with runners and supporters alike celebrating the race festivities.  It is such a good vibe and will live up to its Sunday Funday traditional.  Make sure to book for a restaurant or get to the pub early as places fill up quickly!

Stay at Bondi Yoga House. Of course I had to add a little plug.  Relax, rejuvenate and take a break this winter. Throughout winter we are running several retreat such as juice cleanse, guys only and yoga weekenders.  Not interested in a retreat? You can also just stay with us and get a chance to sleep in a comfy house and meet new people!
